Carola is a gifted but socially awkward teenager who is fed up of not having any friends. To solve this problem she decides to build a robot pal who is just like her in every way. But an accident during the manufacturing process means she ends up with Annie, an android who is bursting with energy, love, joy, and boundless empathy.
